HISTORY:
Ø  Haldiram's was founded in 1937 by GangabisenjiAgrawal, as a retail sweets
and          namkeen shop in Bikaner and Rajasthan.
Ø  In expansion, the company's first manufacturing plant was located in Calcutta.
Ø  In 1970 a larger manufacturing plant was established in Nagpur.
Ø  Another manufacturing plant was established in New Delhi, the capital of India, in the early 1990s, which also had a retail store.
Ø  In 2003, the company began the process of developing convenience food to be marketed to consumers.
Ø  In 2008, the chairman of the company's Nagpur branch was ShivkishanAgarwal.
Ø  In 2014, Haldiram was ranked 55th among India's most trusted brands according to the Brand Trust Report a study conducted by Trust Research Advisory .

Marketing:

Ø  Haldirams product promotion had been low key until competition intensified in the snack foods market.

 

Ø  Consequently, attractive posters, brochures and mailers were designed to enhance the visibility of the Haldirams brand. Different varieties of posters were designed to appeal to the masses.

 

Ø  The punch line for Haldirams products was, ‘Always in good taste.

 

Ø  ’These advertisements had

captions such as ‘millions of tongues can’t go wrong,’ ‘What are you waiting for, Diwali?’ and ‘Keeping your taste buds on their toes. To increase the visibility of the Haldirams brand, the company placed its hoardings in high traffic areas .

 

Ø  Captions such as ‘yeh corn hain’ (this is corn), ‘chota samosa –big mazaa’ (small samosa –big entertainment), ‘yeh Kashmiri mix khoobjamega’ (this namkeen item will gel well) and ‘oozing with taste’ (for Rasgoolas) promoted individual products.

 

Ø  For those customers who wanted to know more about Haldirams products, special brochures were designed which described the products and gave information about the ingredients used to make it.

 

Ø  Mailers were also sent to loyal customers and important corporate clients as a token of appreciation for their patronage .

Ø  Prior and up to August 2003 in the United States market, the company's products were limited to potato chips.
